Pick Hit of the Week: Lady GaGa–Telephone

Of the three Lady Gaga songs that are currently on the charts right now, two of them, Bad Romance and Paparazzi, have already been reviewed as being among the top 20 of 2009. (See post of January 20).  This is the third, and it’s certainly worthy of their company.

Like many of her songs, you have a driving rhythm accompanying a catchy tune.  But then at the bridge Beyonce comes in and adds that level of irritation that pushes the song into something truly memorable.  You keep bugging me, but “it won’t make me leave no faster,” she says, shutting off that electronic interruption device.   Finally, you have the phone effects and the autotune effects, all of which come together to make the song just a little more interesting than the average pop song of today.
